Making History
Doctors had warned that there was a chance that not all babies would survive – but to the amazement of the world, they made history as the first set of a septuplet to survive infancy. As a result, they received even more media attention and met some very high-profile figures. As the nation marveled at the septuplets, they were on the front pages of prominent magazines like Time and Newsweek. Even Bill Clinton, who was president at that time, personally called to congratulate the family, and later they met with George W. Bush. On the occasion of their first anniversary, the triplets appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. But behind the scenes, raising seven babies was quite a challenge.
