Summer: lovely weather, sitting outside and if it’s really hot, setting up the pool. Great bathing and cooling off. But when the weather gets colder or worse, comes the least fun chore: cleaning the pool. I’ve created a step-by-step plan for you, so you know what to do!
Step 1: Emptying the Pool
Empty your pool and then put the tub somewhere else to clean it. Do you think it’s a waste to just throw all that water away? Then use it to water your garden. Do not do this, of course, if you have used chlorine tablets to keep the water clean longer.
Step 2: Rinsing the Pool
Rinse the plastic tub, with clean water, before you start cleaning it. This will ensure that dirt and other debris is flushed out of difficult spots, which in turn will save you time while scrubbing.
Step 3: Cleaning the Pool
This step consists of three small steps:
Step A: Make Your Own Pool Cleaner With Vinegar
The best and fastest way to clean the plastic tub is to mix a little vinegar with warm water. Put the goodness on a dish towel and clean the tub thoroughly. Don’t forget the corners!
Step B: Make Your Own Pool Cleaner With Dish Soap
After cleaning with vinegar, it is important to clean the bath with this cleaner. Mix a little dish soap with a full bucket of warm water and clean the bathtub. Be careful the bath gets slippery from dish soap!
Step C: Clean the Pool With Bleach
Mix a little bit of bleach with a full bucket of warm water and check the inside of the entire pool with this goodness. The bleach will get all the bacilli and bacteria out of the pool. Make sure you use a different dishcloth for all three steps.
Step 4: Rinsing the pool
Step 2 also required rinsing the tub, but this step requires you to rinse off any chemicals left in the plastic tub. Make sure you don’t throw this water away near your plants. It can be harmful. Once the tub is completely clean, you can fill it up again or let it dry and clean up.
